CVE-2024-35835

Local kernel memory corruption via double-free cleanup

Published May 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Double-free in the mlx5e driver in affected Linux kernel builds allows local users to corrupt memory through accelerated receive flow steering. If input allocation fails, arfs_create_groups frees ft->g and returns an error; its caller then invokes mlx5e_destroy_flow_table, which frees ft->g again. The path requires local low-privileged access and mlx5e ARFS operation, and the resulting corruption can disclose or alter kernel memory or crash the host.
