CVE-2024-35828

Service interruption via command-buffer allocation memory leak

Published May 17, 2024 · Updated May 12, 2026

Memory leak in the Linux kernel libertas Wi-Fi driver allows local users to interrupt service after a command-buffer allocation failure. The lbs_allocate_cmd_buffer function returns on a cmdbuf allocation failure without freeing earlier buffers or the command array. Exploitation requires local low-privileged access, the libertas driver, and an allocation failure; the reported consequence is availability loss.
