CVE-2024-35792

Local kernel compromise via misordered request cleanup

Published May 17, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2026

Use-after-free in Linux kernel 6.6 before 6.6.24 and 6.7 before 6.7.12 allows local users to corrupt kernel memory. The rk3288 driver calls its completion finalizer before unprepare, allowing the finalizer to free the request before unprepare dereferences its context and scatterlist. Unprivileged local access to the rk3288 hash engine is sufficient to trigger kernel memory corruption or a kernel panic without interaction from another user.
