Stored XSS via improperly escaped shortcode attributes
Published Jun 1, 2024 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Stored XSS in Content Blocks (Custom Post Widget) 3.3.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts via shortcode attributes. The content_block shortcode handler renders user-supplied attributes into page markup without sufficient sanitization or context-appropriate output escaping. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and injected scripts execute in the browser of anyone who visits the affected page.
