Stored XSS via unescaped language settings
Published Mar 6, 2026 · Updated Mar 6, 2026
Stored cross-site scripting in Preferred Languages 2.2.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through language settings. The plugin accepts administrator-supplied language setting values without sufficient sanitization and renders the stored values without adequate output escaping. Administrator access and user interaction are required; exploitation is limited to multisite sites or sites where unfiltered_html is disabled, and the script runs in a viewer’s browser.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
