CVE-2024-3548Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored XSS via unescaped lightbox source attribute

Published May 15, 2024 · Updated Mar 27, 2025

Stored XSS in Shortcodes Ultimate before 7.1.2 allows remote authenticated users to inject scripts through the su_lightbox shortcode. The shortcode emits the attacker-controlled src attribute into lightbox markup without sufficient sanitization or output escaping, allowing an event-handler payload to persist in a post. Contributor-level access is sufficient, and the script runs in a visitor's browser when the injected page is viewed, enabling actions with that visitor's WordPress privileges.
