SMTPS traffic disclosure via missing hostname validation
Published May 16, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Improper certificate validation in JetBrains YouTrack before 2024.1.29548 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to read SMTPS traffic. The SMTPS client fails to compare the mail server certificate's hostname with the configured SMTP host, so a valid certificate for another host is accepted. Exploitation requires a network position between a YouTrack server configured for SMTPS and its mail server; the published impact is limited to confidentiality.
