Unauthenticated service interruption via unbounded profiler runs
Published May 27, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Resource exhaustion in rack-contrib before 2.5.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt service through crafted HTTP requests. Rack::Profiler converts the profiler_runs parameter to an integer and invokes the wrapped application that many times without enforcing a maximum. Rack::Profiler must be enabled and network-reachable; no authentication or user interaction is required, and the repeated calls consume server resources until service is disrupted.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
