Authenticated settings modification via missing permission check
Published May 30, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Authorization bypass in Wagtail 6.0 through 6.0.4 and 6.1 through 6.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to read and update settings. The settings EditView serves GET forms and processes POST updates without first checking the user's permission for the settings model. Exploitation requires Wagtail administration access and knowledge of the model's edit URL, granting access only to settings outside the user's assigned permissions.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
