CVE-2024-35180Network attack vector

Cross-site scripting via unvalidated JSONP callback

Published May 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Cross-site scripting in OMERO.web 5.25.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute script via a crafted JSONP callback. The webgateway wrap function inserts the callback parameter directly before JSON output without validating it as a JavaScript function name. Exploitation requires a user to load a crafted response; vanilla jQuery callback generation limits exposure, while plugins consuming metadata endpoints can expose the flaw.
