Unauthenticated administrative access via unset initial password
Published Aug 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 13, 2024
Authentication bypass in affected IBM OpenBMC firmware allows remote attackers to gain BMC administrative access during initial setup. Before the admin account's initial password is set, default-password and session handling accepts a network-accessible administrative session. Exposure exists only while a newly installed BMC remains network-connected without an admin password; successful access grants full management privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
