Password disclosure via cleartext UI API tracing
Published Dec 11, 2024 · Updated Jan 27, 2025
Cleartext storage in IBM OpenPages 9.0 allows remote authenticated users to read sensitive password-reset data from UI API trace logs. When UI API tracing is enabled, an administrator's native-authentication password reset writes the sensitive value in cleartext to system tracing log files. Exposure requires UI API tracing, OpenPages-managed passwords, an administrator-performed reset, and privileged access to the resulting logs.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
