Process crash via illegal metadata read
Published May 20, 2024 · Updated Mar 27, 2025
A segmentation violation in NeteaseCrypt::FixMetadata in taurusxin ncmdump 1.3.2 allows local users to crash the process with a crafted .ncm file. FixMetadata performs an illegal read at src/ncmcrypt.cpp line 251 while processing the crafted .ncm input, causing a segmentation fault. Local access and user interaction are required; the crash interrupts only the invoked process, and reproduction can require repeated attempts.
