CVE-2024-3493Network attack vector

Manual-restart outage via malformed fragmented packet handling

Published Apr 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 12, 2024

Improper input validation in Rockwell Automation Logix 35.011 and 1756-EN4TR 5.001 allows remote attackers to cause a service outage. The packet-processing path accepts a specifically malformed fragmented packet with an invalid header value and enters a major nonrecoverable fault. No authentication or user interaction is required; the fault makes the device unavailable until a manual restart and can remove view or control of connected devices.
