Privilege escalation via unsanitized book image link
Published Sep 10, 2024 · Updated Sep 10, 2024
Stored XSS in Gibbon Core 26.0.00 allows remote authenticated users to run scripts in another user's browser through a book image link. The catalog edit processor stores imageLink without neutralizing attribute-breaking input, and the library view inserts it into an image element. A user with Manage Catalog permission can plant the value; execution occurs when a more privileged user loads or hovers over the affected image, enabling administrator-account creation.
