CVE-2024-34748

Kernel privilege escalation via improper casting

Published Jan 28, 2025 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Use-after-free in Android SoC PowerVR-GPU code allows local users to gain kernel privileges through an affected graphics driver. _DevmemXReservationPageAddress in devicemem_server.c performs an improper cast that causes code to access memory after it has been freed. Exploitation requires local execution on a device with the affected Imagination Technologies PowerVR GPU component, but needs neither prior execution privileges nor user interaction.
