CVE-2024-34715Public exploit

Partial database-password disclosure via unescaped connection URI

Published May 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Information disclosure in Ethyca Fides before 2.37.0 allows local users to read part of a database password from webserver logs. DatabaseSettings inserted the raw password into SQLAlchemy connection URIs, allowing @ or $ to alter URI or interpolation parsing and leak the trailing substring. Exploitation requires control of the hosted PostgreSQL password and access to webserver error logs; disclosure is limited to the password suffix.
