CVE-2024-34711Network attack vector

Internal network scanning via permissive entity URI filter

Published Jun 10, 2025 · Updated Jun 10, 2025

XXE in GeoServer before 2.25.0 allows remote attackers to scan internal networks and read limited local XSD files. PreventLocalEntityResolver accepts crafted entity URIs under an overly permissive regex, causing the server to issue attacker-directed HTTP GET requests or resolve limited local paths. No authentication or user interaction is required; exposure is bounded to internal-network discovery, SSRF endpoints ending in .xsd, and limited XSD-file reads.
