CVE-2024-34698Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Prototype pollution via unsafe query parameter merging

Published May 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Prototype pollution in FreeScout before 1.8.139 allows remote authenticated users to alter inherited browser object properties. The getQueryParam function in public/js/main.js recursively merges bracketed URL query keys into params without rejecting proto, assigning nested values to the object prototype. The demonstrated path requires a logged-in user to open a crafted conversation URL and interact with the page; further effects depend on an unsafe downstream gadget.
