CVE-2024-34697Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Credential theft via unsanitized received-email markup

Published May 13, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Stored HTML injection in FreeScout before 1.8.139 allows remote attackers to plant malicious markup through inbound mailbox email. The received-thread editor rendered thread body content inside edit_thread after sanitizing the completed view, leaving attacker-supplied tags active in the application's origin. Exploitation requires a FreeScout user to edit the received message; injected forms can capture submitted credentials, and CSS can exfiltrate data or deface the page.
