Privilege escalation via unauthorized privileged service start
Published Aug 7, 2024 · Updated Aug 7, 2024
Improper privilege management in SumeNNService on Samsung Android 13 and 14 allows local users to start a privileged service. Unused code in SumeNNService exposes the privileged start operation without requiring caller privileges, but Samsung has not disclosed the entry point. A local application context is sufficient and no user interaction is required; post-start actions beyond gaining the service's privilege are undisclosed.
