CVE-2024-3461

Application closure via unlimited exit-PIN guesses

Published May 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024

Improper restriction of authentication attempts in KioWare for Windows 8.35 and earlier allows local users to brute-force the exit PIN. The exit screen accepts excessive PIN guesses without rate limiting or another control that stops repeated attempts. Local access to the kiosk session is required; recovering the PIN permits the protected application to be closed.
