Password takeover via unrate-limited change endpoint

Rate-limit bypass in Mastodon 4.1.16 and earlier and 4.2.0 through 4.2.8 allows remote authenticated users to guess weak passwords. The password change endpoint performs no rate-limit check before accepting repeated current-password guesses. Exploitation requires the victim's valid session cookie and a weak current password; successful guessing exposes that password and permits its replacement.
