CVE-2024-34528

Local credential disclosure or modification via TOCTOU race

Published May 5, 2024 · Updated Nov 1, 2024

TOCTOU race in WordOps 3.20.0 and earlier allows local users to read or alter temporary MySQL root credentials during stack setup. The pre_pref function writes generated database credentials to a temporary client configuration with default creation permissions, then applies mode 0600 only afterward. Exploitation requires local access and precise timing while a privileged stack operation creates the file; successful access exposes or changes the generated database credentials.
