File upload restriction bypass via extension-only validation
Published May 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
File validation bypass in XLang OpenAgents through fe73ac4 allows remote attackers to upload files whose contents do not match their extensions. The allowed_file function derives a suffix from the supplied filename and accepts it solely when that suffix appears in its allowlist, without checking file content. The unauthenticated network upload path therefore admits disallowed content under an accepted extension, while no further consequence is established.
