CVE-2024-34489Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Controller hang via zero-length Hello element

Published May 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Infinite-loop denial of service in Faucet SDN Ryu 4.34 allows remote attackers to hang the controller via an OpenFlow Hello message. The OFPHello parser advances its element offset by the untrusted length field, so a zero value leaves the offset unchanged inside the parsing loop. No authentication or completed handshake is required; one crafted message traps the parser and prevents the controller from progressing.
