Controller hang via zero-length OpenFlow bucket
Published May 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Infinite-loop denial of service in Faucet SDN Ryu 4.34 allows remote attackers to hang the controller with a malformed OpenFlow reply. In OFPGroupDescStats.parser, the loop increments both offset and parsed length by the untrusted OFPBucket.len field, so a zero value prevents either counter from advancing. No authentication or user interaction is required; one crafted Group Description Statistics Reply can keep the parser from returning and interrupt controller service.
