Arbitrary file read and deletion via filename traversal
Published May 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Path traversal in HSC Labs MailInspector 5.2.17-3 through 5.2.18 allows remote authenticated users to read and delete server files. The export HTML handler in mliRealtimeEmails.php accepts the filename query parameter as a download path without confining it to the temporary-export directory. A low-privileged account can traverse to files writable by the web process; deleting the handler itself interrupts email-information loading.
