Server impersonation via flawed CA verification

Certificate validation bypass in Nintendo Wii U OS 5.5.5 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to impersonate trusted servers. An alternate CA-validation path checks whether a crafted CA resembles a known authority but ignores its signature and contents, while accepting a bare wildcard common name for any domain. An attacker who can redirect TLS traffic can read or modify communications for titles that rely on the affected system SSL implementation.
