CVE-2024-34446Public exploitNetwork attack vector

DNS request disclosure via unset blocking-state resolver

Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Information disclosure in Mullvad VPN App 2024.1 and earlier on Android allows remote attackers to observe plaintext DNS queries. AndroidTunProvider leaves its DNS-server list empty when a hard tunnel-creation failure enters the blocking state, so getaddrinfo queries leave the tunnel. The leak requires that blocking state and exposes queried domains and the device source address to an unintended DNS operator.
