Database access via unparameterized profile update
Published Apr 8, 2024 · Updated Aug 1, 2024
SQL injection in SourceCodester Prison Management System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to query its MySQL database via profile edits. The Employee/edit-profile.php handler concatenates the POST parameter txtphone directly into an UPDATE statement and passes it to mysqli_query without filtering or parameter binding. A valid management session is required; the demonstrated time-based blind payload retrieves the database account, while broader data impact depends on that account's privileges.
