Application crash via wrapped stream-position bounds check
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Integer overflow in Tencent libpag 4.3.51 and earlier allows local users to crash an application by opening a crafted PAG file. DecodeStream::checkEndOfFile adds a 32-bit stream position to the requested byte count, allowing the sum to wrap and pass its end-of-file check. Exploitation requires an application to decode attacker-controlled PAG data; the demonstrated consequence is an out-of-bounds read and process crash.
