Proxy crash via unbounded async response buffering

Resource exhaustion in Envoy allows remote attackers controlling an upstream service to crash the proxy with an oversized response. The async HTTP client fully buffers mirror responses without a size limit, allowing a malicious backend to consume available memory. Exposure requires a mirror cluster or another affected async-client consumer; successful exploitation terminates Envoy through out-of-memory exhaustion.
