Service interruption via unsigned thumbnail frame count
Published May 14, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Uncontrolled resource consumption in ShowImageController in TYPO3 CMS allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted requests. The tx_cms_showpic eID accepts an unsigned frame query value and renders an attacker-selected number of server-side thumbnail frames without limiting the count. No authentication or user interaction is required; repeated requests consume image-processing and storage resources until the site slows or stops responding.
