Local file disclosure via enabled entity substitution
Published May 9, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
XXE injection in CycloneDX JavaScript Library 6.7.0 allows remote attackers to read local files through arbitrary XML validation. XmlValidator passes noent:true to libxmljs2, causing external file entities in untrusted documents to be resolved and substituted during validation. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled XML to the validator and expose the resulting validation output.
