Cross-site scripting via inconsistent protocol parsing
Published Aug 5, 2024 · Updated Aug 8, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Nuxt before 3.12.4 allows remote attackers to run script in a user's browser through a crafted navigateTo URL. navigateTo passes the URL through unjs/ufo parseURL, whose malformed-URL and whitespace handling can leave the protocol empty before isScriptProtocol checks it. Exploitation requires server-side rendering and user interaction; successful script execution can access cookies and issue requests in the user's session.
