CVE-2024-34252Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Interpreter crash via out-of-bounds register preservation

Published May 6, 2024 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

A global buffer overflow in Wasm3 0.5.0 allows attackers to crash the interpreter by compiling a crafted WebAssembly module. PreserveRegisterIfOccupied obtains a register stack index and reads its stack type before reallocating the value; the supplied module drives an out-of-bounds global read. Processing the malformed module, including through a host application that accepts untrusted WebAssembly, is required; the demonstrated result is process termination.
