Application crash via unchecked bit count

Out-of-bounds read in libmodbus 3.1.10 allows remote attackers to crash calling applications through crafted bit-count input. The modbus_write_bits function trusts the nb count and repeatedly reads src[pos++] without confirming that the source buffer contains that many bits. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled count and buffer data into this client API; the demonstrated consequence is process termination.
