Browser script execution via stored short name
Published May 13, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Stored XSS in SourceCodester Computer Laboratory Management System 1.0 allows attackers to execute scripts in other users' browsers. The update_settings handler stores short_name from multipart POST data, and pages later render the value as markup without effective output encoding. A victim must load a page containing the stored value; the script runs with that user's site context and can read accessible session cookies.
