Privilege escalation via unguarded position editor
Published May 13, 2024 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Incorrect permissions in SourceCodester Human Resource Management System 1.0 allow remote authenticated users to add job positions. The /hrm/controller/ccity.php positionedit endpoint accepts an employee-level request for an administrator-only position-management operation without enforcing the role boundary. A normal account is required, and successful exploitation changes the application's position master data through functionality reserved for administrators.
