LDAP password disclosure via clear-text SIMPLE bind
Published Nov 26, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
Credential exposure in Sharp and Toshiba Tec MFPs allows attackers to obtain the stored LDAP password from clear-text LDAP traffic. The LDAP SIMPLE authentication setting sends the concealed password to the configured directory server without transport encryption. Exploitation requires administrative control to alter the LDAP settings or sufficient network access to observe device-to-server traffic; the bounded consequence is LDAP password disclosure.
