CVE-2024-3411Network attack vector

Unauthenticated BMC command execution via predictable sessions

Published Apr 30, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Session hijacking in Dell iDRAC8 before 2.86.86.86 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary IPMI commands over the BMC network. The IPMI 2.0 RAKP exchange uses predictable session IDs or weak BMC random values, enabling replay or takeover without the BMC password. IPMI over LAN must be enabled, and successful access can reboot, power off, or re-image the managed server.
