CVE-2024-34096

User-triggered code execution via stale Annotation object

Published May 15, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

Use-after-free in Adobe Acrobat and Reader allows remote attackers to execute code by inducing the opening of a crafted PDF file. The Annotation object handler performs operations on an object without first validating that the object still exists, causing freed memory to be reused. Execution occurs in the current process and requires the victim to visit a malicious page or open a malicious file; affected releases are 20.005.30574 and earlier and 24.002.20736 and earlier.
