Privilege escalation via unquoted search path
Published Apr 29, 2024 · Updated Apr 10, 2026
Unquoted search paths in affected Acronis Windows products allow local users with high privileges to execute code at elevated privilege. A privileged process starts an executable through an unquoted path, allowing an earlier user-controlled path component to be selected. Exploitation requires local high-privileged access and can run attacker-controlled code within a more privileged process.
