Forced logout via missing MFA session-key validation
Published May 31, 2024 · Updated Nov 21, 2024
Cross-site request forgery in Moodle LMS 4.3 through 4.3.3 allows remote attackers to terminate authenticated users' MFA sessions. The logout branch in admin/tool/mfa/auth.php accepted the logout parameter and called manager::mfa_logout() without validating a session key. An authenticated user must reach the MFA page through an attacker-controlled request; the bounded effect is termination of that user's session.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
