CVE-2024-34006Network attack vector

HTML injection via unformatted event descriptions

Published May 31, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024

HTML injection in Moodle LMS before 4.1.10, 4.2.0 through 4.2.6, and 4.3.0 through 4.3.3 lets remote attackers alter log display. The report/log/classes/table_log.php col_description method returns event descriptions directly to the report renderer instead of formatting them as plaintext. Exploitation requires a crafted event description and a user to view the site log report; the documented consequence is attacker-controlled HTML in that report.
