Authenticated script execution via unescaped identity fields
Published May 31, 2024 · Updated Nov 14, 2024
Stored XSS in Moodle LMS before 4.1.10, 4.2.7, and 4.3.4 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a user ID number. lesson_get_overview_report_table_and_data() appends identity-field values to report rows without escaping them for HTML output. The gate is authenticated access to set an identity field; rendering the lesson overview report places the stored value in the browser context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=4.0 <=4.3.3
- Affected versionversion=4.1 <=4.1.9
- Affected versionversion=4.2 <=4.2.6
