Unauthenticated root command execution via crafted session filename

Command injection in GlobalProtect in Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS 10.2, 11.0, and 11.1 allows remote attackers to execute code as root. The gpsvc session store concatenates an unvalidated SESSID cookie into a filesystem path and creates a root-owned file; a privileged process then places the attacker-controlled filename into a shell command. Exposure requires a configured GlobalProtect gateway or portal, and successful exploitation grants unrestricted control of the firewall.
