Session hijacking via unisolated JavaScript URL opening
Published Apr 29, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Telegram Web K before 2.0.0 (488) allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript via a malicious Mini App. The web_app_open_link handler passes a postMessage-supplied javascript: URL to window.open without isolating the new window from its parent context. A victim must open the attacker's Mini App and interact with it; successful exploitation runs code in web.telegram.org and exposes the active session.
