Root command execution via OpenVPN filter bypass
Published Aug 2, 2024 · Updated Nov 4, 2025
OS command injection in Ewon Cosy+ firmware 21.x before 21.2s10 and 22.x before 22.1s3 allows remote authenticated users to run commands. The OpenVPN configuration filter blocks bare up and down directives but accepts their double-dash forms, which OpenVPN executes as root. Administrative access is required to upload the configuration and set VPNCfgFile; successful exploitation completely compromises the gateway.
